USL W League
The Cleveland Force USL W League team wrapped up an outstanding summer campaign, finishing 2nd in the Great Forest Division with an impressive 5-2-3 record. The group demonstrated exceptional quality and consistency throughout the season, competing in one of the most competitive divisions in the country. Their collective effort and commitment set a new standard for the program and continue to strengthen the bridge between our collegiate and youth pathways. A massive highlight for our players was their 1st league game in Pittsburgh where they played in front of a sold out stadium at Highmark (6,077 fans ,the 3rd largest crowd to ever convene at Highmark). In that game our Cleveland Force team featuring multiple HS aged players played to a 0-0 draw against the eventual conference champs. In our return game against the Riveters in Cleveland the team was able to reverse a 0-2 deficit at halftime into a 3-2 win at Krenzler Field handing the Riveters their only loss of the season.
Our USL W League Reserves team enjoyed a remarkable summer as well, finishing undefeated in league play. This talented and unified group featured players from U14 through U19, showcasing the depth of our player development model and the strength of collaboration across age groups. The team’s success reflects our long-term mission to provide Cleveland’s top youth players with elite training, competition, and a clear pathway toward the USL W League and beyond.
Together, both programs represent the pinnacle of the Cleveland Force player pathway, connecting our youth, collegiate, and post-collegiate players under one unified vision. Please look forward to seeing more information about our USL Pathway, including the unveiling of our USL W League Futures program over the next few weeks. We’re excited about the new structure and look forward to providing all of our players with the opportunity to compete and develop at the highest levels of play.

Boys ECNL U15-U19 Director
Boys U15-U19
We are very excited for our boys U15-19 high school teams to return to training in early November. Over August, September and October our players have either played USL Academy with the Force or high school soccer.
All players will return to their designated teams and prepare for what looks like a fun and demanding winter / spring season. First up in November and December, our boys teams will be preparing for showcases. These showcases are particularly important for our older players as they represent their first opportunity to showcase their skills in front of college coaches.
The recruitment process is crucial for us here at Cleveland Force. We have an exceptional record of helping our players secure the college of their choice to continue their Academic and Soccer development. We have our own College Recruitment Coordinator in Steve Brdarski who works closely with the players to advise and guide them through the process. Here at Cleveland Force we put great time and energy into helping each player knowing that it’s the players process and they need to be the one leading it but we are behind them advising.
On the boys U15-19 side we look forward to an exciting winter and spring.

As we near the end of the fall season, we want to take a moment to recognize the hard work, growth, and commitment shown across all of our ECNL Girls teams. For our U13-14 ECNL girl’s teams this fall has been one of change. The teams have welcomed in Reilee Ireland as the newest ECNL girl’s coach and have hit the ground running. Both teams are poised for a playoff push throughout the rest of the season. We have enjoyed watching your continued growth both on the field and off. This season, we will introduce our ECNL Leadership Program that will have representatives from each of our U13-19 ECNL and ECNL-RL teams. We held an introductory meeting on Sunday 11/2 for all interested players and families. Our U13-14 players have continued to set the standard for excellence on and off the field—representing Cleveland Force with energy, humility, and passion every time they step on the field.
As we shift toward the winter competition block, we’re excited to welcome back our U15–U19 ECNL Girls in November as they transition from their high school seasons into the club environment. These groups will train and compete consistently from November through January, highlighted by three major recruitable national showcases that will provide exceptional exposure opportunities for our players:

Steve Brdarski
Girls ECNL-RL Director
Girls ECNL-RL
The season began with tremendous excitement as both our 2012 and 2013 teams participated in the OPI and WAGS tournaments over the past two months. These events provided valuable opportunities for both groups to develop as teams, facing an array of opponents from across the East Coast. The teams collectively achieved an impressive record of 11 wins, 2 draws, and 2 losses over the two tournaments, qualifying for three out of four possible finals.
Our 2012 team emerged as champions at OPI, while the 2013 team reached the finals in both OPI and WAGS. Both groups experienced the intensity of matches decided by penalty kicks, showcasing their determination and resilience. We are extremely proud of the effort and dedication shown by both teams and deeply appreciate the ongoing support from their families.
Currently, both teams have played seven conference games in the Ohio Valley league and have four more matches scheduled over the next two weeks. Conference play has presented challenges, including demanding road trips, fierce league rivalries, and memorable moments that have tested both groups. As we look ahead, we are excited to resume training, focusing on individual and collective development. Continued hard work and pushing each other during practice will be essential for further growth.
Among the season’s highlights was the opportunity for both teams to attend an NWSL game together for the second consecutive year, watching Angel City play Racing. Another memorable moment included a video call with Cristina Torres, a Puerto Rico Women’s National Team member and professional soccer player currently competing for PUMAS in Mexico.
Welcome Back
We are thrilled to welcome back our 2011, 2010, 2009, and 2007/2008 players as they return from their high school seasons. It has been inspiring to see these athletes lead their teams both on the field and within their communities. Congratulations to each of you on your achievements and accolades—we are proud of your accomplishments! We eagerly anticipate the start of each team’s season and their first college showcase at Bethesda in the coming weeks.
Force Alumni in the college ranks
The 2006/2007 ECNL RL grads have begun their college soccer careers with remarkable success, making immediate impacts on their respective teams. This season, ten players started at NCAA Division I, II, and III schools, contributing by scoring goals, making crucial saves, starting games, and creating lasting memories. We look forward to watching them play in person and have enjoyed following their journeys.
Many of these athletes participated in our college training program over the summer, and the group continues to earn recognition such as conference player of the week, goal of the week, and athlete of the week honors. We wish them continued success and are excited to see them after the semester concludes. Keep up the excellent work, ladies!

The girls having been working hard since the start of training in August. The U13 team is a brand-new team and are quickly making the adjustment from 9 v 9 to 11 v 11. They are improving every day at training and have shown tremendous growth and development over the fall season. The girls have shown a lot of resiliency and continue
to compete each game. The group has focused on team and individual defending and speed of play.
The 2012’s have had a busy schedule. They have played in three tournaments, winning the U14 bracket at the Season Finale and placing second in the GLA Fall Challenge u14/15 bracket. In GLA league play, the team has started 4-1-1 and have improved in many areas including speed of play and individual defending.
Both teams will finished the fall season at the Club Ohio Fall Classic Tournament in Columbus. The 2013 Girls finished as Finalists going 3-0 in group play and coming up just short in the final with a score of 1-2. The 2012 girls finished second in their group going 1-1-1. Well done!!!

❄️ Coming This Winter: The Inaugural Season of Force Fusion
We’re excited to launch Force Fusion, a new developmental program designed to emphasize individual player growth rather than team results.
Each week will feature different learning objectives, with game rules tailored to reinforce that focus. Players will compete in small-sided games (3v3 or 4v4) to encourage:
- More touches
- Quicker decision-making
- Greater engagement and creativity
Sessions will also build leadership, communication, and teamwork—the qualities that define true athletes on and off the field. Players will earn and track points weekly, fostering a fun, competitive, and growth-oriented environment throughout the winter.
We’re proud of every player’s progress and can’t wait to see this momentum continue into the winter season.
Go Force! 💪⚽

LOOKING BACK | Fall Update
Our Fall Season has been one of our best yet!
TRAINING UPDATE - Fall for us had a big emphasis on Duels. 1v1, 2v2, 3v3's as we look to create confident players with the ball and tenacious players without the ball.
PERFORMANCE UPDATE - Our Pre-ECNL Teams went 43-1-11 this Fall which is incredible at the highest level as we continue to dominate the Midwest Conference.
Our NPL and CASA Teams have also had an excellent Fall both in league play and the recent tournaments. Tournament wise we have seen success in them all with a number of teams finishing as Champions or Finalist in the Main events we attended this Fall!
We had our Bi-annual Juggle Testing this Fall which was a great success! Well done to everyone! The progress we saw from start to end was truly remarkable with a bit of focused effort. Please encourage your son to continue to work on it before Winter Testing.
MLS ACADEMY RECOGNITION - I want to give a special shout out to our 4 Players (Ethan Hopkins , Joe Vokić, Alex Aguinaga and River de St. Aubin who are currently enrolled with the Columbus Crew MLS Academy. We have an additional 2 starting in the new Year too!
These players have been scouted and selected into their MLS program where they attend additional as part of their development. In the last 18 months our boys High Performance program has had 10 Players make it through to this stage with the Crew and many more scouted as a future talent which is fantastic and something we are very proud of! Well done Boys!
POSITION SPECIFIC TRAINING (PST) - We had our first PST on Monday Oct 20th and it was a huge hit! It was great to bring the program together and see the boys isolate a position and focus on that for the evening. We will be doing more of this as the Year goes on as we look to revamp our current Monday set up.
LOOKING FORWARD| Winter Update
As we head inside for the Winter Months and with very little travel we are excited for our Indoor League play to Kick Off. Players will receive their 1st of 2 Player Evaluations as part of their continued Individual Development Plans.
Our 2014B & 2015B USL Y Teams are heading to Florida in December to compete in the USL National Championships! Good luck Boys!
One of the best part of the The holidays and Winter Season is seeing all our teams bond together with Holiday parties and Team building! I look forward to seeing and hearing all about these festivities!

Girls Only (G.O.) Program Update
Our Girls Only (G.O.) program is off to an amazing start! We recently wrapped up a series of free clinics across three locations, welcoming girls ages 5–10 for a fun and energetic introduction to soccer. The turnout was fantastic—thank you to everyone who came out to play, learn, and grow together!
We’re now looking ahead to our Winter G.O. League, kicking off soon for girls ages 5–8 on Saturdays. It’s a wonderful way for young players to build confidence, make friends, and fall in love with the game in a supportive, all-girls environment. We will be participating in sessions Winter 2 and 3 as well so spread the word!
This is also a great opportunity for our older club players to get involved and earn service hours by assisting as junior coaches in the G.O. League. More details on how to sign up will be shared by email soon—so stay tuned!
And as we head into the holiday season, keep an eye out for our upcoming Toy Drive later in November. It’s a chance for our soccer family to give back to the community and make a difference together. Let’s GO!

The Future is Bright !
The Next Generation of Players at Cleveland Force started their soccer journey this fall. With the start of a new year The Force Pre-Club Program future is bright. This fall our programs are full of players learning to love the game from ages 3-8 years old.

Pre-Club Academy
The Cleveland Force Jr Elite Program has a new name. The Force Pre-Club Academy (PCA) is the capstone program in the Juniors pathway at Cleveland Force. The Academy style program is a pathway that mimics the club 7v7 curriculum and introduces players to the Force Style of play. The girls and boys in the program train weekly and play in a 5v5 environment in the winter to prepare them to play in the U8 club program.
A huge shout out to Molly (2019) who played and trained with the 2018 White team this fall. She played in the Ohio Premier Invitation with the team and was a great part of an exciting event. Well Done Molly!!!
2018 Boys and Girls 7v7
This year marks the third year for the Cleveland Force U8 Program. The program takes advanced 2018 (U8) players and brings them into the club environment early. These young commitment players train 2-days a week and play in CASA at the U9 level.
The 2018 teams participated in the 25th annual Ohio Premier Invitational tournament in Columbus. The boys fought hard and missed the finals, finishing 2-1. The Girls finished in second place in a round robin bracket with a record of 3-1, 13 goals for and only 7 goals given up.
CONGRATULATIONS GIRLS!
This fall was a fantastic experience for both the boys and girls 2018 teams in the local CASA league in Lodi. The girls finished in 5th place of 9 teams with a record of 4-4 and the boys finished in 6th place of 16 teams. I am so proud of all the hard work and passion the kids bring to the field each week. I am excited to see what the future holds.

My Kid Won’t Stop Complaining About Their Heel Hurting!
Sever's disease, also called calcaneal apophysitis, is the most common cause of heel pain in children and young teens, especially those who are active in sports like soccer, basketball, and running.
[1]
[2]
[3]
[4] It usually affects kids between 8 and 12 years old, often during growth spurts or at the start of a new sports season.
[2]
[3]
What causes Sever's disease?
Sever's disease happens when the growth plate at the back of the heel (where the Achilles tendon attaches) becomes irritated from repetitive stress. This is more likely if a child has tight calf muscles, limited ankle movement, or foot alignment issues.
[5] Rapid growth, increased sports activity, and higher body weight can also contribute.
[5]
Symptoms to watch for:
- Heel pain during or after physical activity, especially running or jumping
- Pain that may be worse at the start of a sports season or growth spurt
- Tenderness at the back of the heel
- Pain when squeezing the sides of the heel or when standing on tiptoes
[2]
[3]
[6]
Diagnosis:
Doctors diagnose Sever's disease based on symptoms and a physical exam. X-rays are usually not needed, since changes seen on imaging can also be normal in growing children.
[6]
Treatment:
The good news is that Sever's disease is not serious and almost always gets better with simple, conservative treatments. The main goals are to relieve pain and allow the child to stay active as much as possible.
Activity modification: Kids can play soccer as tolerated, but should REST if limping or have miserable pain. Reducing practice or game time can help, but complete rest is rarely needed.
[1]
[2]
[3]
[7]
[8]
Stretching exercises: Regular stretching of the calf muscles (gastrocnemius and soleus) can help reduce tension on the heel. It’s easy to look up calf stretch videos on Youtube. Start stretching the calf every night, but especially after soccer. Hold each stretch for 30 seconds and perform the stretch on both legs for 3 sets each. [1]
[9]
[2]
[3]
Ice: Applying ice packs to the heel for 15 minutes after sports and stretching can help with pain.
[2]
[3]
Heel cups or insoles: Using heel cups or cushioned insoles in shoes can significantly reduce heel pain and allow children to continue their activities. Studies show that heel cups are often preferred and provide excellent pain relief for most children. We recommend a good quality silicone gel heel cup that you can often locate online for sale.
Example - click here
[7]
[8]
[10]
Pain relief: Over-the-counter pain medications like acetaminophen or ibuprofen may be used if needed. Topical anti-inflammatory gels may also help in some cases.
[2]
[3]
[11]
Proper footwear: Supportive shoes with good cushioning and shock absorption are recommended. Sometimes, shoe modifications like heel lifts can help. Avoid Crocs, slides, flip flops, and other flat non-supportive shoes whenever possible. [2]
[3]
Prognosis:
Sever's disease is temporary and resolves as the heel finishes growing. Most children recover within weeks to a few months after starting treatment, and long-term problems are very rare.
[3]
[8]
When to seek further help:
If heel pain is severe, lasts longer than expected, causes your child to limp, wakes them from sleep, or if the heel is swollen or red consult a healthcare provider for further evaluation.
Key points:
- Sever's disease is a common, temporary cause of heel pain in active children.
- Conservative treatments like stretching, ice, and heel cups are effective and allow most kids to stay active.
[1]
[7]
[8]
[10]
- The condition resolves with time and does not cause permanent damage.
If there are any concerns or questions about treatment, a healthcare provider can help guide the best approach for each child.
